I’m really unsure if this is incredibly impressive, incredibly creepy, or both.

Probably both.

Whoa. 

Things like this really fascinate me, though. In this day and age, technology is constantly growing. It’s becoming more and more complex; people are inventing machines that can mimic human behavior, to the extent that they can learn and imitate emotional reactions. People are trying to engineer things specifically to act like humans. So the question of what it means to be alive or human, where artificial intelligence is concerned, is increasingly relevant. This wasn’t such a big deal a century ago. There was science-fiction speculation, yeah, but now we’re getting to the point where we need to consider this idea for real. More and more artists are creating stories that question the definition of “life” or “person”, trying to reconcile those ideas with the growing capabilities of machines. It’s becoming an extremely common theme in fiction because people are beginning to see this ^ as something that could actually plausibly happen at some point in the future, maybe even soon. I can’t decide if it’s cool or terrifying.

I worry a lot about androids.
